LOCATION
The Togian Islands are an 120 km long island archipelago with about 56 islands in the Golf of Tomini, in Central Sulawesi, Tojo Una Una. Poki Poki is located on the south tip of the Togian Islands, just 10 boat minutes away from the small and lovely village Bomba.
DIRECTIONS
There are two main hubs which will bring you to the Togian Islands. The city of Ampana - south of the the islands - and the city of Gorontalo - in the north of the islands.
Ampana is connected with the rest of Sulawesi by flight to Poso (3 hours car ride distance) or Luwuk (5 hours car ride distance). Once in Ampana it is just a footstep to Togian Islands and Poki Poki. There are several daily boats which bridge the mainland with the Togian Islands. Please see below for more details on the main boat schedules.
Gorontalo is well connected with several flight routes throughout Sulawesi. However, there is only one ferry which connects Gorontalo with the Togian Islands. The ferry Tuna Tomini approaches the Islands two times a week on a 12 hour trip.

ON THE ISLAND
Once you reach the Togians you may also from one place to an other. There is a daily speed boat connecting Bomba and Wakai, as well as a few public wooden boats connecting villages around the island. Last but not least there is the option to charter boats from fisher (wo)man or from the resorts. In this case it might be best to share a boat.

SPEEDBOAT
The daily morning Speedboat "HERKULES" going to Wakai brings you straight to Poki Poki. Tell the captain that you wish to get out at the jetty from Araya Dive Resort. We´ll pick you up for free from there!
The speed boat ride takes about 40 minutes and costs currently 160.000 IDR per person.
HERKULES is leaving daily at 9.00 AM from Ampana to Wakai.
At the moment there is no other operating speedboat, connecting Ampana to Wakai.
WOODEN SLOW BOAT
Almost every day several wooden boats (called "Bodi´s") going from smaller harbours from Ampana to Bomba or a nearby village (Siatu, Kulinkinari) They cost about 80.000 per person.
Check with the hotel staff in Ampana which Bodi ist running on that day.
This boats starting between 8.00 and 10.00 AM from a small harbor next to Marina Cottages. The boatride takes from 2 to 3,5 hours, depending on the boat and weather conditions. They are not going on Fridays.

HERKULES is leaving daily at 13.00 PM from Wakai to Ampana. On Fridays it happens to start a bit later.
CHARTER BOAT
Charter a boat from Wakai straight to Poki Poki. The prices are usually fair and are somewhere around 600.000 IDR for the boat. It`s a lovely ride along the coastline of the Togian Islands and takes about two hours.

GENERAL
The ferry Tuna Tomini connects the Togian Islands with Gorontalo three times a week. The ferry will bring you to the main hub of Togian Islands - the city of Wakai. Please see the schedule of the Ferry Tuna Tomini below. Once you are in Wakai please use the Speedboats or a Charterboat to travel further to Poki Poki.
FROM GORONTALO TO WAKAI
The Ferry Tuna Tomini brings you to Wakai on Tuesdays & Fridays. It leaves Gorontalo in the afternoon (around 17:00). The ride will take about 12 hours and you will get to Wakai the next early morning.
FROM WAKAI TO GORONTALO
To go from the Togians to Gorontalo take the Ferry Tuna Tomini, which leaves Wakai every Monday & Thursday in the afternoon (around 16:00). The ride will take about 12 hours and you will reach Gorontalo the next early morning.
